&nbsp Ancient Spirit Art is a synthethis of my spiritual experience, my life experience, a life-long innate attraction to the natural and spiritual world and practical application of learned principles. My primary focus spiritually has been the sources of belief and consequences of those beliefs over the millennia. This path added fuel to an existing passion for tribal and surrealist/metaphysical art perspectives and gave me cause to live from my own center encouraging the same in all people. I experience a unique perspective in the north. I've the great fortune to live in one of the most diverse unmolested places on the planet in relative understanding and harmony with nature, and equivalent to the serenity there has been much hard work, trials and the odd river trip. From this place of balance I have drawn some understanding of my own true nature and its capabilities. The isolation I choose allows me time to reflect on my interaction with different perspectives, our multi-cultural heritage, its nature and the changes that are taking place in the world around us, while effectually interacting with the experience of the events taking place. Transcendent events are taking place all over the world and I feel passionate about the nature of those changes and the possible directions being considered. Change is the only constant in life. Someone wise once stated "As if you could kill time without injuring eternity", awareness of self and direction of energy is of utmost importance to me as I've learned all nature is optimized by recognition and pro-active use of fundamental spiritual principles and equally destructive where ennui prevails.

60,000 year old Mammoth Ivory, stones and fossils, in these ancient materials I see a future that suggests massive transformation of the human race. Fossil Ivory is the ideal medium for atavistic expression. What once was, will be again. This work I offer in light of my experiences, strengths and hopes for the future, and with a prayer that all find the source of light where it truly resides, in each and every one of us regardless of race, color, belief, issues, etc. My work is what I see in these natures; their transformation and awakening as well as my own evolution.
Most important of all, Art exists in all of us, in the uniqueness we bring to life and the spirit in which we approach it. To thine own self be true, an' it harm none. webbureau

My inspiration is drawn from observing nature in as raw a state as I can find it, my family and life experience. I love Natures way and have a deep respect for its indifference. I spend as much time in the bush as I can either collecting material or simply being there. I was born in Calgary, Alberta and developed a passion for ancient history/material that started with dinosaur bones and flint napped tools. I moved to the Yukon with my family in 1970. I dabbled in oil painting and stained glass and for a long time art was mostly a hobby for me, being a professional chef for twelve years took a lot of my creativity. After a brief 10-year stay on Vancouver Island I came back to the Yukon. Since devoting my time and energies solely to Art Ive become resensitised to the Yukon. The intense nature of the north presents a challenge for me to live with passion and encourage passion in those my life touches. I view life as ART and conscious creation its essence. Using fossil ivory I am able to establish a link between the past and the present that is sent into the future. My life in the north has been anything but traditional so I keep things that way in my Art. All time poker machines games to risk

James has lived in the Yukon for twenty years. The intense nature of the north has challenged him to see a deeper and more passionate side of life. "I believe in humanities ability to live with equanimity in nature". I see my art as a path to express the compassion and love I feel for life, a journey to find my center and live from that place.
